ABOUT US

INQUILAB (URDU DAILY)

Inquilab, part of Mid-day Infomedia Ltd, is the widely read Urdu daily. It was established in 1938 by Late Abdul Hamid Ansari, a freedom fighter and an educationist. In fact, while working with the masses at one hand and supporting freedom movement on the other, he realized that mobilizing vast Urdu reading community for the cause of freedom was very much necessary. It was this objective that led to founding of Inquilab, a newspaper that would take the Urdu reading people closer to the freedom struggle.
After independence, when nation building was the topmost priority of our first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, Inquilab became part of this endeavour and aggressively campaigned for Secularism and Democracy, the biggest strength of our nation.
Inquilab has always believed in Indian nation and Indian society. From the early 50s till today, the paper has strived hard to spread information and awareness. It has worked with Governments to take the public agenda forward, hence welfare schemes were publicized to the fullest extent. At the same time, public grievances too were highlighted so that the Government took note of it and solved them on priority basis.
It is a known fact that Inquilab is one the most leading newspapers of the country, but, as far as Urdu newspapers are concerned, it is India’s number one (ref: IRS). Apart from it, the paper is one of the most respected and trusted dailies of the country. With its unbiased and authentic news, Inquilab has carved a niche of its own. With its ‘closer to the community’ approach, Inquilab is known even to the non Urdu communities as well.
While Inquilab has about half a million readers spread across the country, there are thousands of readers who read the paper online. Most of such readers are NRIs who live abroad for either employment or business.
Along with Inquilab, Mid-day Infomedia Ltd also publishes Mid-day (English) and Gujarati Mid-day.
